The science
Put simply, our belief is that humans were not meant to sit for prolonged periods. We have stood and walked upright for over 1.5 million years and for the last 10 thousand or so most societies have been centred on farming. It's only over the last 100 years or so that sitting has become common at work and it's only in the last 15 years or so that we've been sitting for increasingly long periods in front of computers. Watch the video to see more on the science behind the FreedMan Chair.
Sitting posture with lumbar support and raised seat.
The technology
The seat pan of the FreedMan Chair articulates on a specially made stainless steel ball, which allows a controlled, rising and lowering of each side of the seat.
This allows the seat to match any pelvic height imbalance that the sitter has when standing and therefore maintains their side-to-side spinal curves.

Dispatch begins!
April 2, 2015
It’s been a long haul, but at long last, chairs are starting to ship out of the warehouse and will reach end users over the next few weeks!
I spent three days with the team at the warehouse last week checking the chairs – readying them for dispatch and I’ll be up there again today – it’s 3.30 am and I’m just about to hit the road.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been focused on dealing with some production and testing issues to mean we can get your chairs out to you and the first batches are finally arriving at our warehouses in the UK and US.
Being new to the whole experience, it’s been the most incredible last 2 years and a steep learning curve to say the least! I now know what a huge task and how expensive it is to put anything into mass production let alone making something that is this complicated and innovative…

I got back from a mammoth three-week trip in China last weekend and it’s been a busy week getting things at this end sorted out.
Apologies for not updating you sooner, but I’ve been waiting to hear confirmation from the factory on the production and can now confirm that one container left for the UK last week, another for the UK will be loaded this Wednesday. The two containers for the US shipment have been…

Posture Perfect
April 13, 2015
New consumer research from the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) reveals that a perfect posture ranks highly on the attractiveness scale, with more than half (58%) stating that a good posture makes a potential partner more appealing.
Despite a perfect posture being high on the wish list for a perfect partner, almost a third (29%) of those people surveyed had been told they have bad posture.

Back pain is soaring among young people because they are sitting down for too long, according new to research by the British Chiropractic Association.
A sedentary lifestyle and a change in working habits – long periods spent sitting at computers – mean more people are complaining of spinal pain, particularly the young. The number 16 to 24-year-olds living with back or neck pain has risen to 45% in a year, compared to 28% of 18 to 24-year-olds the previous year.

Office workers are being urged to move about more by new campaign, launched by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Get Britain Standing. The campaign is aimed at encouraging office staff to be more mobile at work.
Many people spend only half an hour on their feet in the office and fear being sedentary is damaging their health, according to a new survey carried out by the charities.
